The 12GO 97027 Pz.Kpfw.VI, Tiger II (King's Tiger) is very easy to build from the start, using bags 1 and M, thanks to the excellent quality of the parts and their really good clutch power. Even though this isn't typical of other 12GO models, by the end of the first bag you'll have the entire undercarriage assembled (Image 3). In T2, it might seem like there isn't much to build, but that's deceptive, as there are a lot of small parts, from the cockpit and side panels to the rear and the tracks (Image 4). The track links were very easy to fit together; however, I only used 59 links instead of the recommended 60. This makes the tracks a bit tighter, but they run smoothly even on slightly smooth surfaces. Next up is T3, which includes the cockpit console for the driver and radio operator, beautifully printed on both sides, the massive engine block, the hull side armor, and the track guards. The latter were a bit fiddly and easy to attach, but it's best to adjust the tilt angle at the end of T4. T4 includes the rear armor, the engine hull, the cockpit cover (P1), and the front armor. Once the covers are positioned, you can easily see how much the tilt angle needs to be adjusted. For some reason, the front armor is attached to the cockpit cover in a way that allows it to move; it folds itself into position (Figures 7 & 8). T5 & M is the crowning glory of the King Tiger, of course, the turret. I often wondered how anyone could come up with such a design, and building the crown took me several hours and a lot of frustration.

Ok, hats off to 12GO with this one, because this is the single best Königstiger model I've ever built. The interior is absolutely stunning and incredibly detailed, especially the engine and the turret, the working suspension looks amazing when going over bumps and rough terrain, and the figures it came with are equally detailed as the tank itself. the custom parts help to make the turret look exceptionally accurate, and the hatches are amazing. 10/10, hope to see more like this one from them in the future.
