The manual provided is very difficult to follow regarding which bricks go where. The illustrations don鈥檛 clearly show placement of many of the darker colour bricks.

The building was as I expected. All stones fit. They are small stones and that makes building interesting and the model looks very good.

So, I just finished this today. Is it perfect? No. Close? Yes. This is my first time using blocks this small. Last time too. Not the products fault. Directions: it was beyond different to see what piece went where. I had to shine a flashlight on it and guess a lot. Thankfully there were a ton of extra pieces, so it all worked out. Glad I did it, wouldn’t do it again.

Because the pieces are so tiny this build is more like a puzzle. I really enjoyed building it and the overall quality is good. The pictures in the booklet are sometimes a bit tough to work out but no errors.

I didn't realize how small these blocks would be. They are are absolutely tiny. Small blocks does not mean a small job either. 1600 small blocks is more work than 1600 full size blocks! I was very glad to see the set included a block separation tool! Just to build the base you need to open 5 out of 6 bags, so I recommend opening all six bags immediately, and sorting them by color into cups. The build process mostly allows you to only worry about 1 or 2 colors at a time, so you don't need to have all the bricks out on the table at once. You'll feel like a human 3D printer by the time you are done, and you'll have to come up with your own build order in places, because the instructions just show you the layers, not the order how to build it. In some cases, like starting the arm or the head, you'll need to assemble multiple layers simultaneously. Once a shape is started, applying additional layers is easier. You will definitely get your money's worth of build time "fun". The brick quality is decent. There is a little flash that needs to be trimmed off here and there, but no big deal. The blocks also stick together fairly well. I had one visibly malformed block and one that didn't stick well to others, but the set includes plenty of extra bricks (I had 122 extra pieces in all), so the odds of missing a brick are reduced. There are a couple errors in the instructions, but the pictures are mostly correct, with just one mistake. The instructions call for one white 8x2 brick visible in Mario's eyebrow that I think clearly should have been black. I had an extra 8x2 in black and used it there. Once done, the model looks pretty good. If anything, it looks better in real life than in the photos. It is also relatively solid. You can pick it up anyway you like without fear of it coming apart, but you couldn't pick it up and shake it. It is well worth the $13, and definitely a new experience.
